Plating neodymium iron boron magnets can be achieved using electrochemical deposition techniques, usually with nickel or copper as the coating. The general steps for electroplating neodymium iron boron magnets are as follows:

• Surface preparation: Prior to electroplating, it is necessary to ensure that the surface of the neodymium iron boron magnet is clean, smooth, and free from contamination. This can be achieved through methods such as mechanical cleaning, acid washing, and degreasing.
• Pre-treatment: Pre-treatment of the surface of the neodymium iron boron magnet typically involves activation and sensitization. Activation can be achieved through methods such as acid washing, alkaline washing, and electrochemical means to remove surface oxides and increase surface activity. Sensitization typically involves using chemical substances such as cuprous oxide or rhodium chloride to increase the conductivity of the neodymium iron boron magnet surface.
• Coating deposition: Nickel or copper is typically used for the coating of neodymium iron boron magnets. Coating can be achieved through electrolytic deposition techniques, in which the neodymium iron boron magnet acts as the anode and the nickel or copper in the metal salt solution acts as the cathode. During the electroplating process, metal ions will deposit on the surface of the neodymium iron boron magnet to form a layer of metal coating.
• Post-treatment: After electroplating is completed, post-treatment can be conducted to improve the quality and protective performance of the coating. For example, drying, polishing, and sealing can be performed to remove residual moisture and oxides, and improve the corrosion resistance of the coating.
